Official brand guidelines for US Military Gamers — colors, logos, typography, and usage rules.

Following these guidelines ensures a consistent, professional presentation across the main site, subdomains, forums, social media, and any community-created materials. When in doubt, refer back here before publishing or creating USMG official content.

Color Palette

Two Contexts USMG uses slightly different palettes depending on context: the Main Site (usmilitarygamers.com) uses a dark header over a light grey background, while Subdomains use a dark header over a white background. The accent colors (red, blue, green) are shared across both.

✕ Don't
  • Don't use the accent colors for large background fills — they are accent colors only

Usage Guidelines

🎨

Consistency First

Use the defined palette, logos, and fonts across all materials. Consistent branding builds trust and recognition with the community.

🖥️

Context Matters

Match the context — dark header on the main site, dark header on subdomains. Don't mix two header colors from main to subpages. Keep the experience consistent.

📐

Respect Clear Space

Give the logo room to breathe. Never crowd it against other elements, text, or the edge of a container.

⚠️

When in Doubt, Ask

If a use case isn't covered here, check with style team or leadership before publishing materials that carry the USMG brand.

Social Media & Avatar Use

✓ Do
  • Use USMGGuy.png (the character mascot) as the favicon and small-format avatar
  • Use usmg_globeman.png as an alternate small-format avatar/logo
  • Use the primary logo's for profile headers and cover images
  • Keep social profile colors aligned with the USMG palette
  • Use seasonal logo variants for limited-time holiday or event promotions
✕ Don't
  • Don't create unauthorized "USMG" branded accounts or pages
  • Don't use the logo as an avatar without ensuring it is legible at small sizes
  • Don't use seasonal logos past their relevant time period
  • Don't crop or reframe the logo in ways that obscure key elements

Imagery & Photography

✓ Do
  • Use imagery reflecting military culture, gaming, and community — team shots, gameplay screenshots, events
  • Prefer high-contrast images that pair well with the dark header aesthetic
  • Ensure any overlaid text has sufficient contrast against the background image
✕ Don't
  • Don't use stock imagery depicting real military operations or sensitive situations
  • Don't place the USMG logo over a full-bleed photograph without a backing or overlay
  • Don't use low-resolution or heavily compressed images in hero sections

Seasonal Logos

Limited-Time Use Seasonal logos are holiday and event variants of the primary logo. Use them only during the relevant time period — they are designed for dark backgrounds.

In-Game Group Names

When creating a USMG-affiliated group, guild, clan, or any other in-game organization, the group name must use one of the three approved forms below. This ensures our brand is consistent and recognizable across every game and platform our community participates in.

Required — Not Optional Unofficial or improvised name variations are not permitted. If a game's character limit prevents the full name, use the shortest approved form (USMG) rather than creating an abbreviation or alternate spelling.

Approved Group Names

🎮

USMG

The official abbreviation. Use when space is limited or for stylized short-form group tags.

🎮

USMGamers

The approved mid-length form. Suitable for games that allow longer names or display tags.

🎮

US Military Gamers

The full official name where appropriate. Use wherever the character limit allows the complete form.

Default to USMG When in Doubt If you are ever unsure which name to use — whether due to character limits, platform restrictions, or display formatting — always default to USMG.
It is the shortest, most universally compatible form and is recognized across all games and platforms our community participates in.
✓ Do
  • Use USMG, USMGamers, or US Military Gamers — exactly as written
  • Choose the longest form the game's character limit allows and that fits with the theme of the game
  • Use USMG as a group tag or clan tag in games that display short identifiers
  • Create a group when a game has genuine traction in the community — active interest, regular play, and a need for organized representation
  • Check with leadership if you're unsure which form fits a specific game's format
✕ Don't
  • Don't use alternate spellings, abbreviations, or creative variations (e.g. "US Mil Gamers", "USMilG", "USMGG")
  • Don't add suffixes, prefixes, or qualifiers not in the approved list (e.g. "USMG_Official", "Team USMG")
  • Don't use all-lowercase or mixed-case variations that differ from the approved forms
  • Don't create an USMG game group without at least 10 members interested in playing that game
